SBS Radio & Television Youth Orchestra (SBSYO) gives the concert première of the “Wild Swans Suite” by Uzbek-born Australian composer Elena Kats-Chernin. Recorded at the Orchestra’s 20th Anniversary Concert with conductor Matthew Krel and soloist Simone Easthope (in the presence of the composer) it features footage of Uzbekistan’s astonishing Silk Road architecture from Khiva, Bukhara and Samarkand.
Audio was recorded live in Verbrugghen Hall, Sydney Conservatorium of Music in May 2008 by Mike Stavrou and friends, with assistance from SBS Radio.
